Driving
Please note that the road over Hardknott Pass is unsuitable for inexperienced drivers and larger vehicles and is usually impassable in icy weather.

Walking
It is of course possible to walk to Wasdale! We are happy to provide advice, but please don't set out without a map, compass and clothing suitable for mountain conditions - the weather on the hills can change very quickly and can be very different from in the valleys.
If you are approaching the hotel from the South via Newby Bridge then the road over Ulpha Fell is a quicker route than following the A595, although the route can sometimes be difficult in icy weather.
